Essay: The Second Generation iPod

Sample Essay

The second generation iPod that hit the stores in 2002 was not as phenomenal as one would expect. The only innovations were in the scroll wheel which was now touch sensitive, a cover was provided over the FireWire port and the hold switch was redesigned. It was the third generation iPod that helped Apple pick up the sales pace again with backlit buttons above the wheel and versions that allowed enhanced storage as well USB and FireWire connector capabilities. It was because of the success of these models that versions of this generation’s iPods were released in even higher memory capacities later.

The iPod mini was heavily rooted in the fourth generation fourth generation iPod that came out in 2004. iPods of this generation allowed users the comfort of being able to audibly track clickable areas. The USB was the only medium of connection provided with the iPods of this generation and was available only in versions that held capacities of 20 Gigabytes and 40 Gigabytes.
